Falcon men win 7th straight, improve to 4-0 in Big 8 Conference

After missing nearly all of January's schedule due to COVID-related postponements, the Folsom Lake men hit the hardwood in full stride with two wins to close out the month.  Facing a quality opponent at Falcon Gym on Friday night, the Falcons prevailed over Delta College, who entered the contest 12-8 overall and 6-2 in Big 8 play.  With the Mustangs hitting their shots early, the game was close throughout the first half with neither team able to break away.   The Falcon defense stepped u plate in the second half with some well-timed stops, then converted on the offensive end to gradually pull away for the 18-point win.

While Pierce Rexford has been the Falcons' go-to guy all season - he's averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds per game - Big 8 Conference teams have put more and more emphasis on stopping the sharp-shooting sophomore forward.  The result has been open shots for other Falcon players, and Friday night was a prime example; while Rexford again led the team with 22 points, Yaadvir Dhaliwal scored 19, Jaylen Solich added 14, and Cameron Wall netted 13.

The Falcons (now 10-5 overall and 4-0 in Big 8 play) face a tough schedule this week with back-to-back games at Sac City (5-11 overall, 2-3 Big 8) and Sierra (8-9, 1-4) on Monday and Tuesday, then home games against Sac City and Diablo Valley (9-10, 4-3) on Friday and Saturday.
