Falcons take down Panthers

After three straight home games, the Folsom Lake men's basketball team took their show on the road on Friday night and came home from Sacramento City College with a satisfying 80-69 win.  The Falcons used a combination of muscle inside and long-range shooting to improve their Big 8 record to 2-3.  Will Fitzpatrick gave the Falcons a 4-point halftime lead when he hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, and the Falcons used that momentum to pull away in the second half.  Sophomore point guard Matt Lyon again led the team in scoring with 27 points while Fitzpatrick chipped in with 17.  Sophomore Isiah Maun grabbed 9 rebounds - including four offensive boards – as the Falcons outrebounded the Panthers 36-32.  The Falcons shot 50% (31 of 62) from the field, including 8 of 18 (44%) from beyond the arc.

With the win, the Falcons improved their overall record to 7-10 and helped create a five- team logjam in the middle of the Big 8 standings.  The Falcons look to even their Big 8 record  on Tuesday evening when they play at Modesto (4-13, 0-5 in Big 8) at 5:30 pm.
