Falcons take home Consolation Trophy with win over Modesto

The Falcons found themselves facing another Big 8 Conference opponent on Saturday, only this time they were playing tournament host Modesto for a trophy.  With their outside shooters knocking down shots and their bigs controlling the boards, the Falcons built a solid lead early in the game and took a ten point lead into the locker room at halftime.  After the break, the Pirates came out with some intensity to take the lead by five with 12 minutes to go, but the Falcons regained control and pulled away for the 15-point win.  Sophomore Matt Lyon knocked down seven 3-pointers on his way to a 30 point game and earned all-tournament recognition.  Sophomore Isiah Maun tallied 20 points and Gavyn Kamminga added 14.

The Falcons (3-5) now have their first 2-game winning streak and the Consolation trophy was the first hardware earned by the second-year program.  They will look to make it three in a row on Tuesday night when they host De Anza College (5-5) at 7:00 pm in Falcon Gym.
