Falcons top 100 in win over Marin

The Falcon men played their first home game of the 2018-19 season and enjoyed the vibe of Falcon Gym as they defeated College of Marin, 101-83 on Tuesday night.  The Falcons were perhaps over-hyped to be playing at home, as witnessed by their 8 turnovers in the first 9 minutes of play while falling behind 33-25.  But they closed out the first half with a strong run and took a 2-point lead into the locker room, 44-42.  In the second half, the shots – especially from beyond the three-point line – started to fall and the Falcons steadily pulled away.  Freshman point guard Matt Lyon hit 3 of 4 three-pointers and was a perfect 14 out of 14 from the free throw line as he led the Falcons with 28 points.  Behind Lyon, the Falcons spread around the scoring with Stan Harms tallying 15, Zethan Dumpson had 14, and Clayton Davis finished with 12.  Isiah Maun and Grant Bellis were also instrumental in the victory with their all-around play.

On Thursday, the Falcons will face Columbia College in the Modesto Tournament, a rematch of last Friday's game in Sonora.  Then on Friday, they'll face either Cosumnes River or Fresno.
