Bio

Rich Gregory started his playing career in the California Community College system at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA under Mike Perez. The following year he transferred to San Jose City College to play for Doug Robb as an outfielder where he earned All American honors. Following San Jose City College he attended California State University, Chico in 1997 and 1998 under Head Coach Lindsay Meggs. During his two years at Chico the Wildcats won the 1997 Division II National Championship and finished fourth in the 1998 National Championship. While at Chico State Rich was named to the All American Team in 1997 and 1998 and was the West Region Player of the Year in 1998. Following Chico he began his professional career with the Atlanta Braves followed by one year of Independent League Baseball. In 2011 Coach Gregory was elected to the Chico State Athletic Hall of Fame.

With his playing career coming to an end the passion for coaching baseball began with his first coaching job at San Jose City College under Doug Robb where he was the outfield and hitting coach in 2000 and 2001. After spending two years with San Jose City College Gregory was hired to coach at Chico State as the hitting and outfield coach under Lindsay Meggs for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. In 2002 Gregory helped lead Chico State to the 2002 National Championship Game and finished the season ranked second in the country. Following the 2003 Season Gregory took some time away from the game to focus on family and life. Rich moved to Folsom in 2008 where he began coaching with Scott Seffens at Vista Del Lago High School in 2009.

Coach Gregory resides in the Folsom area and has three children Mckenna (22), Rich Jr. (19) and Jack (16).
