Falcons edged by Sac City

The Falcons and Panthers played under the lights at Sacramento City College on Tuesday night as the two teams began their Big 8 season-ending three-game series with the Panthers pulling out a 6-5 come-from-behind victory.  It looked like the Falcons were poised to put an end to their 12-game losing streak when they put three runs across in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead.  But Panthers took advantage of two walks, a wild pitch, and a misplayed popup in the seventh inning to retake the lead, 6-5.   In the eighth, it looked like the Falcons would answer when they put runners on second and third with just one out.  But a strikeout and a groundout killed the rally, and the Panthers then struck out the side in the ninth to secure the win.  Falcon right fielder Hayato Niki led the Falcon offense with three hits and two RBI.

The two teams will meet at Falcon Field ("the Lake") on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm for the Falcons' final home game of 2019.  They'll finish the series on Friday evening at Sac City (6:00 pm).
