Delta scores early & often to to hand Falcons a loss

Playing as the home team at Delta College, the FLC baseball team fell behind early and eventually lost to the Mustangs, 11-5 on Thursday afternoon.  With Falcon Field deemed unplayable due to the sponge-like outfield, the Falcons were the home team on Delta's field for this middle game of the three game series.  The Mustangs jumped in front with a four-run first and followed that with three runs more in the second inning.  Offensively, the Falcons awoke in the third inning when Hiyato Niki singled home James Powers after a leadoff double.  Powers was one of four Falcons with three or more hits in the game.  In the seventh inning, outfielder Chris Giles had the first of his four RBI when he singled in Andrew Williams.  Giles came up again in the ninth inning, this time with two runners on, and smacked a three-run home run to account for the Falcon's final score.  One highlight for the Falcons was their bullpen, which limited the Mustangs to three runs over the final five innings.

The two teams will meet again for the series finale on Saturday afternoon at Delta College.
