Falcons pitchers shut out Modesto for 2nd straight win

Having already broken a four-game losing streak on Thursday, the Falcons made it two wins in a row with a 2-0 shutout of the Pirates on Friday afternoon in Modesto.  Falcon starter Zack Jedlowski pitched into the seventh inning, allowing just three hits while striking out seven Pirate batters.  The bullpen of Shane Ellner, Chris Wiese, and Tyler Cochran did not allow a baserunner over the final 2 1/3  innings to preserve the Falcon victory.  The Falcons scored a run in the 2nd inning on a double by first baseman Clayton Borges and two ground outs.  They added an unearned run for insurance in the 7th inning on a hit batter, a sac bunt, and an error.

The win improved the Falcons' Big 8 record to 4-5 with three games against Santa Rosa slated for this week.  The Falcons' first home game of the 2019 season will be on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 against the Bear Cubs, thanks to five days of abundant sunshine that has finally made Falcon Field ("the LAKE") dry enough to play on.
