Falcons drop Big 8 opener at American River

With the relentless winter weather jumbling their schedule, the Falcons finally opened Big 8 Conference play on Thursday afternoon – instead of the scheduled Tuesday opener – at American River College, where the Falcons were the home team due to wet field conditions at Falcon Field.  The 'visiting' Beavers broke open a close game with five runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh to win 12-5.  The Falcons had 13 hits in the game, but all but one were singles.  Third baseman Anthony Mislinski had three hits – including a double, the only extra-base hit for the Falcons – and drove in two runs.  Falcon reliever Chris Wiese was the most effective of six Falcon pitchers, throwing the final three innings while allowing just two hits and no walks.

The Falcons are back on Beaver Field as the visitors for two games on Friday, at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.
