First inning disaster seals Falcons' fate vs Fresno

With a deluge forecasted for Wednesday, the Falcons' scheduled game at Fresno was moved up a day to Tuesday afternoon.  The Rams took full advantage of some shaky Falcon defense in the first inning, as they parlayed five hits and four Falcon errors into six runs (five unearned) on their way to an 8-3 victory.  After the first inning disaster, the Falcons actually outhit and outscored the Rams while playing much better defense, but the damage had been done.  Designated hitter Alex Schroeder had two hits while six Falcon relievers combined for six shutout innings after the first inning debacle.  With the loss, the Falcons' record dropped to 6-4 with four non-conference games scheduled for next week prior to opening Big 8 Conference play on Feb 23.
