Baseball thumped by Sierra

Baseball thumped by Sierra

The Falcons had hoped to close a little ground on Big 8 Conference co-leader Sierra College on Tuesday evening, but instead lost to the Wolverines at Falcon Field, 13-3.  The Wolverines proved why they're leading the Big 8 as they rapped out 16 hits, including eight for extra bases.  Sierra's designated hitter Charles Middleton had a rarity as he hit for the cycle (single, double, triple, and homer) and had six RBI.  Sierra's starting pitcher Radd Thomas kept the Falcons off balance all night, throwing seven innings of four-hit ball.  The few highlights for the Falcons included shortstop Josh Winkler's solo home run in the seventh (his 4th)  and 3B Anthony Mislinski's two-run home run in the ninth (his 5th).  The Falcons (10-9) remain in fifth place in the Big 8, one game behind next week's opponent, Sac City , and two back of third place Santa Rosa.

The Falcons will play at Sierra on Thursday afternoon, then complete the series on Saturday at Falcon Field at 1:00 pm.
