Falcons shut out by Cosumnes River

For the first time in the 2018 season, the Folsom Lake baseball team was unable to score a run in nine innings of play, resulting in an 8-0 shutout loss to Cosumnes River on Sunday afternoon at CRC.  The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but weather and wet field conditions pushed it to Sunday.  In an unusual oddity, neither team recorded an extra-base hit among the 18 total hits.  The difference, however, was that the Hawks were able to combine multiple hits with walks to put crooked numbers on the scoreboard in three different innings.  The Falcons, meanwhile, never had more than a single runner on base in any inning as they spread their seven hits over the entire game.  The result was the second loss in a row to the Hawks, who have evened their Big 8 record at 4-4 while the Falcons have fallen to 2-6.  The teams will play the final game of their series - originally scheduled for last Thursday  - on Monday afternoon (3:00 pm) at Falcon Field.
