Falcons fall in extra innings

What looked like a Folsom Lake victory turned into an extra-inning loss for the Falcons on Wednesday afternoon as host Cosumnes River rallied to tie the game in the ninth, then win it in the 11th, 6-5.  The Falcons took a 5-3 lead in the top of the ninth, scoring two runs on an Andrew Williams RBI single and a CRC error.  But in the bottom of the ninth, the Hawks were down to their last out when a single and an Aaron Pierce home run tied the game.  Two innings later, a single, a sac bunt, a stolen base, and an RBI single won the game for the Hawks.  The Falcons' Aidan Malm, Lee Brewer, and Andrew Williams each had two hits and an RBI, and Michael Farley hit his team-leading sixth home run of the season in the loss.  Starter Tyler Cochran (5 IP, 3 ER) and reliever Austin Beard (3 IP, O H, 0 ER) also had good games as the Falcons (2-5) fell one game behind the Hawks (3-4) in Big 8 Conference play.
