Falcons suffer first loss of 2018

The Falcons lost a close one on Tuesday night in Fresno when the Rams broke a 1-1 deadlock with three runs in the 8th inning to win, 4-1.  Falcon starting pitcher Tyler Cochran was on his game, giving up just a solo homer in the third in six solid innings of work.  But Fresno's Zach Whitaker was just as sharp in his seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits.  Two of those hits came in the fifth inning when the Falcons  put together a two-out rally (single/walk/single) for their only run of the game.  The Rams took advantage of a one out walk in the eighth as they followed it with two singles and a double to put the game away.  The non-conference loss was the Falcons' first of the young season.  They'll look to bounce back with a weekend series against Gavilan College (2-3) at Falcon Field (Friday at 6:00 pm, Saturday at 12 noon and 4:00 pm).
