Falcons top Mendocino in 11 innings

Looking to exact some revenge after losing to Mendocino in Ukiah last week by one run , the FLC baseball team pulled out an 11-inning, 9-8 win on Monday evening at Falcon Field.  The Falcons came from behind twice to build an 8-4 lead after six innings, but couldn't hold it as the bullpen gave up three runs in the seventh and another in the eighth.  With neither team able to score in the ninth, the game went to extra innings.  Finally in the 11th inning, Carson McCusker and Aidan Malm led off with consecutive singles, then Jack Rotteveel walked to load the bases with nobody out.  Josh Winkler got the game-winning RBI with his one-out infield hit that scored McCusker and improved the Falcons' record to 8-6.  The Falcons rapped out a season-high 17 hits in the game, including three-hit games by McCusker, Malm, Rotteveel, and Winkler, as the team batting average climbed to .307.
