First inning sinks Falcons in loss to Butte

In their rematch with Butte College on Saturday afternoon in Oroville, the Falcons were defeated by the Roadrunners, 17-12.  After taking a 2-0 lead in their half of the first inning, the wheels fell off as the Roadrunners scored 13 runs on 8 hits, 3 errors, 2 walks, a balk,  and a hit batter, all in the first inning.  Despite being down by 11 runs, the Falcons battled back and made a game of it, scoring 10 more runs over the next eight innings while gathering 17 hits.  Carson McCusker continued his torrid start at the plate with another home run and a double and four RBI, and sophomore Kale Leach added a three-run homer.  Pitchers Reid Ramirez, Cody Lindsey, and Brandon Bachman allowed just one earned run over the final three innings.

The Falcons will have their home opener tonight (Monday) at Falcon Field against Butte, starting at 5:00 pm.
