Falcon bats come to life in 12-2 win
The Falcons collected 13 hits (including a 4-hit day for catcher Mason Allen) and took advantage of six Napa Valley errors on their way to a decisive 12-2 victory over the Storm at Falcon Field on Tuesday afternoon. FLC starting pitcher Andrew Schantz lasted just 2 -1/3 innings due to a forearm muscle strain, but was backed by solid relief pitching from a committee of Falcons including Will Felton, who picked up the win with 4 innings of work. Tanner Clark, Matt Huddleston, and Craig Stafford all contributed an inning to the victory. Meanwhile, Allen raised his batting average to .286 by going 4-for-4. First baseman Nick Schumacher knocked in three runs with a double and a single, thereby boosting his team-leading RBI total to 25 and batting average to .326. The Falcons now head into the home stretch of the Bay Valley Conference season sitting in third place at 11-5 and trailing conference co-leaders Laney and Los Medanos by just one game with eight left to play, including one game against both of the co-leaders.
