Falcons Get 20th Win of Inaugural Season
The FLC baseball team broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the ninth inning , then held on in the bottom half of the inning for a 6-5 win over Yuba College in Marysville yesterday. The win was the 20th of the Falcons' inaugural season, a feat previously unmatched in California Community College baseball history by 1st-year teams. The Falcons took an early 3-run lead in the second inning on RBI singles by Blake Rivera and Josh Criswell and a sacrifice fly byMike Majeski. The 49ers answered back with 3 runs of their own in the home half of the second. The Falcons reclaimed the lead in the fourth when Mychal Lee doubled home two runs for a 5-3 lead. The score remained unchanged until Yuba tied it with a two-run triple in the eighth inning. In the ninth, Vincent Debove hit a leadoff double for the Falcons and eventually scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Grant Heisinger. In the home half of the ninth, a leadoff walk was all the 49ers could muster as Kendall Menard got two strikeouts and a flyout to earn the save. The Falcons improve to 20-12, 12-8 in the BVC and have just four games remaining.
