Baseball Suffers Tough Loss

Saturday afternoon's sun-drenched game at Falcon Field between the Solano Falcons and the Folsom Lake Falcons turned out to be a true pitcher's duel.  Solano's Nathan Jenest and FLC's Ryan Pearman went toe-to-toe, each allowing just one run through six innings.  The Falcons scored their only run in the fourth when Tyler Kaim crushed a ball to left that banged off the fence for a double, then advance to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a passed ball.  In the seventh, Solano loaded the bases against Pearman on a single, an error by Pearman, and a walk.  With one out, Zach Reid came on in relief of Pearman.  A nasty breaking ball in the dirt bounced off catcher Anthony Poindexter onto the infield grass, allowing the Solano baserunner to score from third with what turned out to be the winning run.  The Falcons had a chance to tie in their half of the seventh when second baseman Zach Rogers led off with a triple, but he was gunned down at the plate trying to score on an infield grounder Mychal Lee.  The Falcons had one more chance in the ninth when they put runners on first and second with two out, but could not get the run across.
