Baseball Wins First Conference Game

The FLC baseball team made their Bay Valley Conference debut a memorable one as they defeated the Los Medanos Mustangs in Pittsburg yesterday, 4-2.  Head coach Rich Gregory chose Will Felton as his "opening day" starter and it paid off as the righthander earned the win with six solid innings, leaving with a 2-run lead after giving up 2 runs (one earned) on four hits.  The bullpen combo of lefty Alex Perez and righty Zach Reid blanked the Mustangs over the final three innings as Reid earned the save.

The Falcons struck first in the second inning when DH Nick Schumacher scored on a wild pitch.  The Mustangs scored a single run in the bottom half of the fifth to tie the score, but the Falcons responded with three in the top of the sixth.  Schumacher and second baseman Austin Wailes both had RBI singles that keyed the rally as the Falcons took a 4-1 lead.
